Topics in Monetary Economics and Macroeconomics

ECONOMICS 586C

This course will consist of 15 weeks of lectures and presentations on the mathematics and economics of lifecycle economies, illustrated by applications to growth, money, credit, and monetary policy. Topics include dynamical systems; exchange and production in lifecycle economies with and without financial frictions; fiscal policy, bequests, and inequality; public debt and other bubbles; Taylor rules and other monetary policies; and limit cycles.
