ECONOMICS 585

Topics chosen by the instructor from modern empirical and theoretical research, particularly in cutting-edge computational techniques. Topics covered may include (but are not limited to): agent-based modeling; machine-learning and big data analytics; randomized control trials (RCTs); natural experiments; structural estimation; field experiments; time-series analysis; network analysis. Students will engage with recent empirical research papers, learn to apply these techniques in their own research, and gain practical experience through hands-on projects and discussions. Prior completion of (Econ 501 or Econ 5011) and (Econ 503 or Econ 5031) and graduate-level econometrics is recommended. Prerequisite: Graduate Student standing. 3 units.
