This half-semester course offers an introduction to scientific computing in Economics using Python. It is tailored for students with minimal, to no, programming experience, or those looking to start using Python. The course emphasizes hands-on learning, focusing on applying Python to scientific computing in Economics. Common computing methods and algorithms will be covered. The second focus of the course is to enable students to motivate economics problems by summarizing and visualizing patterns and moments from data. Through a hands-on approach, students will gain practical skills in utilizing Python libraries to enhance computational efficiency. Students must bring a laptop to the class. Prerequisites: Econ 1011, Econ 1021, and SDS 2200.
