Machine Learning and Data Science in Economics

ECONOMICS 6140

This course provides the foundations for a career in machine learning and data science for social scientists. The fundamental concepts of artificial intelligence and machine learning are taught in class, followed by practical applications in lab sessions, coding assignments, and a capstone project at the end of the semester. This course is heavily dependent of coding skills in Python. We will start with exploratory data analysis, discuss what machine learning si, learn the most common techniques in the field, do predictive modeling, work on a capstone project, presenting it and deploying it in the cloud. Prerequisites: Econ 536 and (Econ 6850 or instructor approval).
