Dissertation Fellowships (DF) typically provide two semesters of duty-free support to students working on their dissertation. Although these awards usually cover the final year of graduate support, the DF can be split between the final two years of a student's Ph.D. program. All requirements for the Ph.D. other than the dissertation should be completed before support under a Dissertation Fellowship begins. This includes all required examinations (comprehensive, cumulative, field, foreign language, qualifying, preliminary, proficiency, etc.) other than the oral defense, all coursework, and, if required, the Department's formal endorsement of the dissertation proposal. Dissertation Fellowships are accompanied by a $1,000 travel fund. Note that Olin and Chancellor’s Fellows are not eligible for the Dissertation Fellowship.
Your application should be submitted no later than Friday, April 1st!
